Tours

Venture safely over the canyon’s edge with a helicopter tour. Trek deep into its depths in a guided mule train. Or take a bus, jeep or bike tour along the rim’s edge. From high adventure to simple scenery, there’s a Grand Canyon tour for you:

Helicopter and Airplane Tours

Several companies offer bird's-eye views of the Grand Canyon via helicopters and airplanes. These trips embark from outside Grand Canyon National Park. Learn more about Grand Canyon air tours by visiting the Grand Canyon Chamber of Commerce website or Grand Canyon West.

Road and Rail Tours

From an around-the-rim bus tour to geology tours and Jeep tours, there are multiple ways to see the canyon and stay comfortable. For a real treat, try a sunset or sunrise tour and see the canyon at its most beautiful. Learn more about Grand Canyon ground tours by visiting the Grand Canyon Chamber of Commerce website.

The Grand Canyon Railway also offers vintage train rides between Grand Canyon Village and historic Williams, a two-hour ride each way.

Biking Tours

Touring the canyon on two wheels is an exhilarating and healthy way to take in the sights. Here are just a couple of our favorite biking tours:

Hermit Road: This eight-mile trail starts just west of Bright Angel Lodge on the South Rim. Most of the trail runs within a few yards of the Canyon, offering cyclists a series of impressive panoramic views.

Greenway Trails: These multi-use trails on the South Rim form part of the Grand Canyon Greenway, an in-progress network that will eventually link 73 miles of multiuse trails along the North and South rims.

Mule Rides

Mule train rides from Grand Canyon Village down the Bright Angel Trail are a Grand Canyon tradition – but there are actually several options for your mule trip:

  • South Rim One-Day Trip: Take a seven-hour round-trip journey on the Bright Angel Trail to Plateau Point, 1,000 feet above the Colorado River, for a superb outlook over the Inner Gorge.
  • South Rim Overnight Trip: Descend the whole length of Bright Angel Trail and spend the night at Phantom Ranch.
  • North Rim One-Hour and Half-Day Trips: Ride along the North Rim either to Uncle Jim Point or down the North Kaibab Trail as far as the Supai Tunnel.
  • Havasu Falls Trip: Skip the three-hour hike and take a mule ride to these spectacular falls instead.
